Luján de Cuyo
The birthplace of Malbec: old vines, historic wineries and lunch in Agrelo or Las Compuertas.
Luján de Cuyo is the first Controlled Appellation of Origin in the Americas and where Argentine Malbec came of age. We visit three wineries across Agrelo, Perdriel and Las Compuertas: century-old houses, old-vine blocks and family projects. It is the ideal day to understand history, vine age and why the stony soil here gives different tannins from the Uco Valley.
If a guest only has one day and wants to understand Malbec, I bring them here. Being close to the city means better wineries without spending the day on the road.
